We are a happy family.

Albeit a little crowded. Sharing a bathroom with the kids has not been nearly as bad as I was afraid it would be. Since dh's eye injury put our kids' bathroom remodel on slo-mo, we've been sharing our master bath with the kids. I use the term "master bath" very lightly when referring to our bathroom. Even though one must trek through our bedroom to access it (every night at about midnight for ds and about 5am for dd ) it is the smallest bathroom we've ever had. I think our powder room in NJ had more square footage. When we replaced the sink bowl we had to special order the smallest one made, and I bump my elbows on the walls of the stall shower if I'm not careful. But anyway, we laid out some rules so we could all get along as well as possible. #1 The person who needs to go potty gets priority seating. Excuse the pun. #2 If the door is closed, KNOCK! #3 Clean up after yourself. So far it has worked very well. It helps that no one has to be anywhere in particular early in the mornings. Since school starts on our couch whenever everyone is finished with breakfast, and dh is still on medical leave, we can take our time in the mornings and share the bathroom. We cannot, however, all share one tube of toothpaste. It took dh and I about 10 years to finally share one tube of toothpaste. Yep, I converted to Colgate, but I am still a top-of-the-tube squeezer. Dd and ds get their individual tubes. It makes it easier to find the culprit when a toothpaste cap is not properly fastened, plus they get excited to have their own tube. Even though counter space is at a premium, I think it is a small price to pay for the happiness of all.
Albeit? Is that even a word?

You have quite the system! I'm glad you've found a way to make it work. How nice to be home and not have to worry about all getting ready at the same time.

p.s. albeit is a word. :)

Albeit-aren't you smart sounding!! We(all four of us that use the facilities) share 1 bathroom. Not so great when caffeine has been indulged in. I cannot wait to have a home with at least 2 bathrooms. Oh, I have that same tissue box. I thought the brown print was charming. Yes, I buy tissues based on the boxes.

I'm still using Crest, and I'm still a middle-of-the-tube squeezer. But Kori bought a bunch of Colgate at Costco, so I guess I'll be converting soon. How are things going? How's Harold? I still want to see eye pictures. We're in our new house now, and there's a few pictures on the blog. You'll have to come visit soon!

i am a top of the tube or middle of the tube squeezer myself. in fact, i don't really pay attention to where i squeeze that tube. my hubby complained about it for a couple of years and figured out that i wasn't going to change . . .

We do separate tubes of toothpaste for everyone, too. It was amazing how all the toothpaste spots in the carpet in the hall stopped happening once I knew who was doing it and made them clean it up!

I hope your dh's recovery is going quickly!

Believe it or not, I own that pink Peanuts toothbrush. And use it on a regular basis.
