I almost feel famous

A friend of mine, well, okay a person I don't even know, is a real live interior designer. We were at college together, does that count? Anyway, she has a great blog where she gives decorating tips and will give you specific advice if you send her your questions. I recently sent her pics of my living room and she gave me some great advice! So check it out and tell me what YOU think I should do. Thanks, Christine! The diamond pattern fabric will be the first thing to go.

Good for you, standing your ground on Aly's comment. Anyhow, I love that fireplace. You could check out home decor books from the library to find picture of mantles you like. If it were my house I would love a thick, rustic beam-almost like a cross tie, going across. I liked the idea about two bookcases where the one currently is now. Maybe if you could use the same frames for your art, they would tie them in together. I wouldn't necessarily say that all your pictures have to hang at the same height as the mirror. I think the reason Christine thinks the mirror needs to be lower is because it might look better, in a cosier way. Oh, maybe hanging your artwork together in a collage style fashion might look better than scattered about the room. As far as moving the "cheap and free" things, if it makes you and your family happy, who cares?? It is YOUR home.
Can't wait to see the finished photos. Oh, I don't know if Christine said this or not, but whatever you decide to cover you chair in, I would make a few throw pillows for the couch to bring it all together. Maybe a throw blanket-Target has some nice ones-to tie the colors in also.

How fun to get real ID advice! I actually went and asked her a question, too!

And I think your room looks like a place I would feel very comfortable in!

What awesome advice! I think that you have some really nice pieces in your living room.

Thank you for visiting my blog! I am glad that you love fabric too!! :) Yes, most of the fabric is from Heather Bailey's Pop Garden and I also got some from Amy Butler's Lotus line.

I think that I am going to make a quilt with the Heather Bailey fabric . . . but then, it is just too pretty to cut! I will have to get over that. :)

Hi Jill!

I would love an invite to your blog. If you don't have my email, Jenny and your mom do.
